Prepare for a golf lesson and review your round with AI

Before a lesson, ask ChatGPT or Claude to turn what's been going on into a 3-sentence summary and your top 3 questions for the pro. Afterward, paste your notes to get a practice plan, and after each round run a short coach-style review: two things that went well, one to work on, one drill.

The problem

Lessons cost money and go fast. Many golfers arrive without a clear ask and forget half of what the pro said by the next weekend.

Why AI helps

AI is a good organizer. It helps you show up with a clear summary, and it turns scribbled notes into a plan. Saved as project files, those notes become a running record your Golf Coach Project can use.

Using Projects: Projects are folders that remember your instructions. Per the official help pages (checked October 13, 2026): ChatGPT Projects are available to signed-in users and free accounts can add up to 5 files per project; Claude Projects are available on free accounts, which can create up to 5 projects. In Claude, chats in a project don't share context unless the information is in the project knowledge. See how to set one up.

Step by step

  1. A day before the lesson, paste the Lesson Prep prompt with what's been going on.
  2. Bring the summary and questions on your phone or on paper.
  3. Right after the lesson, type what the pro said while it's fresh and paste the follow-up prompt.
  4. After each round, paste the Post-Round Review prompt.
  5. Save the plan and reviews as project files (in Claude, upload them to project knowledge so future chats see them).

Copy-paste prompts

Replace anything in [square brackets] with your own details. AI answers vary from person to person, so we don't show a "typical" answer here; try it and see what you get.

Lesson Prep

I have a lesson with a PGA pro on [date]. Here's what's been going on lately: [describe]. Help me prepare: a 3-sentence summary of my game to tell the pro, my top 3 questions, and what to write down afterward so I remember the lesson.

After the lesson

After the lesson, here are my notes: [paste]. Turn them into a practice plan.

Post-Round Review

I just played. I shot [score]. Good things: [list]. Bad things: [list]. Number of putts (if you know): [number]. Lost balls or penalties: [number]. Help me review it like a coach: 2 things that went well, 1 thing to work on, and one drill for this week.

Limits and safety

  • Your pro's advice outranks the AI's. If they disagree, go with the person who watched you swing.
  • Keep notes about golf; you don't need to include health records or personal details.
